Thornbill was born out of a simple, frustrating experience that millions of Australians face monthly: receiving a confusing and expensive energy bill. Driven by this frustration, a small team was assembled to build a simple solution to avoid the countless hours spent trying to decipher tariffs, fluctuating fees, usage trends and alternative offers.
The Problem We Saw
The privatisation of energy markets across Australia has left consumers with nothing but higher costs, less transparency and more confusion. We saw a system that allowed corporations to benefit from market complexity and left government bodies scrambling to keep up. Australians were left without advocates truly aligned with them and not the retailers. Market comparison companies push deals that pay them commissions, and consumers have to rely on retailers to verify and audit the very invoices they are sending.
